TiN Coated CNC AERO Spiral Point Taps were developed to tap heat resisting stainless steel alloys, for example 17-4PH, A286 and other soft nickel based exotic materials such as Hastelloy, Inconel, Waspoloy, and Incoloy. The unique spiral point geometry is designed to freely tap these difficult to machine Aerospace materials with minimal contact between work material and tool. With CNC equipment in mind, tap dimensions are closely controled for fast, repeatable tap changes. CNC AREO taps are recommended for exotic materials 275 BHN or less. For harder materials, TiN Coated CNC Heavy Duty Taps are recommended.
